Margie Barclay joined the medical team to train nurses from Popondetta General Hospital in maternal health. The aim of this training was to improve maternal and newborn health.
Margie has worked extensively with Medecins Sans Frontieres as a midwife throughout the developing world. Basing herself in Yemen, Syria, Uganda, Pakistan, Libya, Sudan and Nepal to mention just a few places. Margie was also involved in assisting with the Cholera outbreak of 2009 in PNG.
She guided the training session at Popondetta Hospital with great skill and made a real impact. There was genuine engagement and in the independent evaluation of the mainly recent graduates they asked for the next level of training, continual contact with Margie and a follow up session on her return.
