The Kitchen at St James’

Newsletter No 14

A kitchen may not be the highest priority at most schools
but at St James’ it will make a real difference. Some children come to school without having had breakfast and most do not have lunch. Learning is difficult enough without doing it on an empty stomach. The building housing the kitchen at St James’ has been completed and work is proceeding on fitting it out with the facilities needed for cooking over an open fire. Once operating, it will provide lunch for all the children, with women from the local community volunteering for the cooking.
